The new year is almost here, which makes it a great time to look back at the highlights from this year while looking forward to things to come in the new year!
So, let’s rewind back through some of your favorite moments of 2019, as voted by YOU on our Instagram page www.instagram.com/cureintl .
In 2019, CURE Ethiopia celebrated ten years of loving and caring for the children of Ethiopia. As a way of honoring us, the President of Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde, showed up to witness our service first hand. Easily, one of the biggest highlights of the year!

"O Lord, if you heal me, I will truly be healed; if you save me, I will truly be saved. My praises are for you alone!" - Jeremiah 17:14
Amatoulaye came to CURE Niger for treatment for her cleft lip. Unfortunately, her surgery was postponed over and over again due to a persistent infection. On Instagram, we all came together in prayer for this little one, and her infection cleared! She received her cleft palate surgery in May. While there’s a fair share of division in our culture right now, healing newborn babies from near-certain death at the hands of hydrocephalus is something we can all get behind!
Patty and Chandler spent time volunteering at CURE Kenya, and we were all a little jealous of their opportunity to be God’s hands and feet at work. Good news though, there are volunteer opportunities across the network for a wide variety of skills. Check it out at CURE Global Outreach https://cure.org/go/!
The incredible transformation of Zabeirou’s smile after his cleft lip surgery at CURE Niger made him a shoo-in to be our poster child for the internationally celebrated World Smile Day.
John was born without a right foot and has always dreamed of dancing. He received surgery at CURE Philippines to prepare his right leg for a prosthetic. It was amazing to watch him walk, run, and DANCE! We were all celebrating alongside him.

Evance went through four procedures at CURE Malawi and had two frames placed on each foot. Recovery was painful, but his determination to walk again was inspiring! We all loved seeing the once reserved and shy Evance laugh and show us a giant, proud smile as he stood on straight legs!

"Night to Shine" is an international celebration for those with special needs. Many of our patients are often shunned in their communities and don’t get the opportunity to shine. During this event, special needs children are celebrated, loved, and honored! Shown in the Instagram post below, CURE Kenya knocked the celebration out of the park in their typically colorful and joyful fashion!
Before and after posts are always popular, including the amazing story of Abdou! This eleven-year-old boy was born with his feet turned up onto his shins, which forced him to walk on his heels. After treatment at CURE Niger, Abdou was able to walk with ease for the first time in his life! It was a long and difficult recovery for Abdou, but this boy’s strength and grit wowed and inspired us all!

Reminiscing like this over the past year is a great way to remember how good and faithful God is to us! In our day to day moments and in the valleys of life, it’s easy to forget how he provides. As we look back at some of the highlights from 2019, we can see his presence throughout - molding and directing our lives.
As we enter into 2020, please pray that God will continue to guide us to those that need healing and continue to direct our path in healing the sick and proclaiming His kingdom throughout the year. God is bigger than our ambitions and more imaginative than our dreams. When we work together, with God leading the way, there are no limits to the ways lives can be changed in 2020!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
