CURE Zambia Partners with Local Churches to Reach Patients Far and Wide

In late October, a team of medical and spiritual co-workers traveled to the Luapula province (over 700 km from Lusaka) to bring the good news of healing through a series of mobile clinics. In the course of a week, we held seven mobile clinics, and four of them were staged at local churches. The churches helped mobilize and spread the word about the clinics. The mobile clinics held at local churches were characterized by prayers, medical screenings, and spiritual counseling.

Rev. Mbale, who presides over the United Church of Zambia in Kawambwa, shared what partnering with CURE Zambia means to the church and the community:

“The idea of having mobile clinics is a great milestone to us because these mobile clinics resonate with our vision as a church, which is: ‘the total salvation of humanity, with spiritual restoration and physical well-being, fully reconciled in Christ, the only Saviour.’ The partnership enables us to provide a holistic service to the community because, as a church, we serve the least regarded and hard-to-reach areas even beyond the borders of the country. The mobile clinic plays an important part in reaching the physical well-being of the people in the community as we take care of the spiritual. It is bringing the health services to the people’s doorstep, and this has brought joy not only to the church but also to the community at large.

“When CURE Zambia partners with the church, it means their presence is being felt in the community. We have interviewed some mothers who have taken their children to CURE Zambia for treatment, and they all speak highly about the reception they received. They say it gave them hope and faith that their children will be healed, and they all come from a background where they are ridiculed and looked down upon because of their children’s disabilities. It’s an answer to prayer that the shame they have been subjected to has been taken away by this gesture.”
