In January, CURE Malawi celebrated John Chilembwe Day, a public holiday in Malawi. So CURE threw a huge party for the children of our staff members! Over 60 kids came out to play games and sing songs with us!
Nathan models during some downtime on the playground after morning tea!
It was great to see the kids enjoying the playground equipment.
Lucius led the kids in a silly song.
The boys and girls competed to see who could sit down the fastest. It seemed to be a draw despite the fact that most of the girls were doing it in dresses!
The Green Team waits for a hospital tour.
Prince and some of the other kids try to guess the names of different bones for Dr. James.
In Malawi, you aren't having a good day if you don't have a chance to play some football (soccer)!
The boys wanted a group photo after their football game!
Waiting for lunch!
The kids had a delicious lunch of rice, chicken, and veggies.
The kids played the "maize game." It's like bobbing for apples, but instead of water, maize flour is used, instead of apples, it's lollipops. The kids had some pretty great expressions of disgust when they came out, but this boy didn't seem to mind!
Lollipops seemed to make up for having your face covered in flour, or at least Josephine thought so!
Desmond laughs at the flour all over Nathan’s face.
Setting up the pins for bowling!
There were a lot of near misses in bowling. Everyone was quite excited to see some of the pins knocked over.
Tug of war!
Egg race!
The kids all had a blast playing games and spending the day at CURE. We're looking forward to seeing them again at a future children's day!
